Can he see me or not? Anyone crossing a road on foot – at a zebra crossing, for example – usually checks beforehand to make sure they have been spotted by other road users. With autonomous vehicles, too, pedestrians hope to be recognised. The research project we are presenting in June focuses on the technical requirements for detecting people. When cameras capture images of street scenes, the direction from which the photo was taken is a key parameter when it comes to automatically detecting people or other objects in the photos.

Info GeoWerkstatt - Insights into research

he GeoWorkshop appears monthly here on this website. Scientists take turns reporting on their current research projects in the field of geodesy and geoinformatics. The Geodetic Institute (GIH), the Institute of Geodesy (IfE), the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformatics (IKG), and the Institute of Photogrammetry and GeoInformation (IPI) are all involved.
